FAMILY THERAPY

Family therapy is also often provided by licensed psychologists, licensed mental health counselors, clinical psychology post-doctoral residents, and supervised counselors (Registered Mental Health Interns [RMHI] and mental health externs).  Family therapy may be utilized to address a variety of concerns! The usual goals of family therapy are improving communication among family members, facilitating problem-solving approaches, understanding and handling special family situations, and creating a better functioning home environment. During session, the therapist may work with you and your child to explore the interactional dynamics of the family and help to modify ineffective patterns of relating to each other; however, the therapist may also work directly with parents (with or without the child present) to provide parents with strategies and interventions to implement.  Click here to find out more about our areas of specialty and our treatment approaches!

ABA THERAPY

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy has been proven to be effective in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); however, the application of behavioral principles can also be extremely effective in treating other diagnoses, such as Oppositonal Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and in addressing other presenting problems, such as disruptive behavior.  With that said, unfortunately, most insurance plans will only cover ABA services under the diagnosis of ASD.  ABA essentially consists of implementing behavioral principles to increase the skills and behaviors that are adaptive and appropriate and reduce the behaviors that are maladaptive.  ABA therapy is provided by our team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA), and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT).  Click here to find out more about our ABA program!
